I just went back up to the Golden Gate overlook and they have removed that tree in the painting. Sad.

This is one of those paintings where the handsome singularity of the subject in the foreground is nicely juxtaposed against a sweeping, and equally beautiful landscape behind it. Very nicely done indeed!

The added contrast between the darker shaded foreground, and warmth of the sunlight on the tree helps to create a realistic atmosphere, and breathes life into the subject. Cool!
