Robert Bechtle



When my brother was here this last spring, we went to the Robert Bechtle exhibit at the SF MOMA. It's amazing that someone can paint something so exact. They are beautiful. I love this painting shown above because it reminds me of the old blue Oldsmobile stationwagion that my parents had.

There is a really great video about Bechtle here. (I was surprised to learn that he uses a projector to aid in his painting, and that he considers his camera a kind of sketchbook.)

My brother just told me that we had a Ford station wagon instead of an Oldsmobile. I guess I was too young to notice...
