Paul Davis is my Hero
His work is amazing, he's an excellent teacher, and he's actually a pretty decent guy.
Paul Davis and David Dornan teach workshops during the summer in Helperm, Utah. Their 2006 schedule is out at HelperWorkshops.com. See you there :)
Kevin Bean
Yesterday
The SFMOMA is having a great show in March called "Finding the Figure". While looking up more images by Dave Balona I stumbled across the work of Kevin Bean at the Charles Campbell Gallery here in San Francisco. His paintings reminds me of the photo albums that everyone has tucked away in a box someplace safe.

William Salit
Chimeras of Withdrawal No. 2
I've been working in William's studio for a few months now and am starting to wonder how I ever survived without it.
Thanks for the space William.

Internet Tip #1: Find more sites that you love
OK, so you've found a site that you really, really love. You check it everyday and still can't seem to get enough. How do you find related sites that offer up the same type of content?
One way to do it is to search for all the sites that link directly to the site that you're so fond of...
Say you like a design blog called, designsponge.blogspot.com. If you type in "link:designsponge.blogspot.com" into any search engine, it will return all the sites it found that link to that site. You can also go to Marketleap and use their link popularity check tool and they will look up your site in several different search engines at once, and rank your site next to other sites so you can tell how "popular" it is. When I searched designsponge.blogspot.com on Marketleap's tool, it showed that it's linked to by over 250,000 sites. More than Coke.com and MarthaStewart.com and just a little less than eTrade.com and Napster.com. Amazing huh!

Southwest art
I just got the February issue of Southwest Art. Lots of good landscapes in this issue. Two artists that caught my attention are Kathryn Altus and Ken Auster (shown in the previous posts). I like that if you see something or someone that looks interesting in any magazine, that it's so easy to look them up online and see more of their work.

Stock Schlueter
Johnson Ranch, 24" x 56"
It's a shame that I live in San Francisco and have only been to the John Pence Gallery once this last year. Here's one of the artist they represent: Stock Schlueter.

Bruce Everett
Las Virgenes Valley, oil on canvas, 156"x 120".
I have been going through some old issues of New American Paintings and Bruce Everett's work caught my attention. Great stuff.
